Vancouver’s Hot Chocolate Festival

Updated: Aug 17, 2023

Kick off the new year! 2023 starts with warm news. The hot chocolate festival finally comes back from January 14 to February 14. The fest will take place in Vancouver, Whistler, Burnaby, White Rock, and Coquitlam. The Vancouver Hot Chocolate Festival was the first city-wide initiative in the world to use hot chocolate beverages to support small, local businesses. And the festival improved over time. Well, we are not supposed to call it a festival, because there is no music or big crowds, they do not close the streets, somehow it is more an excuse to keep yourself warm in different places. We have much to discover this year; 143 flavours, 95 locations, and 66 chocstars.

Customers will love to try dozens of exotic flavours. Among them are white and dark chocolate, different types of whipped creams (chocolate, strawberry, vanilla), marshmallows, and ice cream. But hurry because they are limited-edition. Once they are gone, they are not coming back next time… or maybe. This event brings together some of the best cafes, bakeries, and dessert spots.

One of the new surprises the Hot chocolate fest brings us is the Instagram Online Photo contest. If you win, you can enjoy some drinks all year long!

SPOILER: First Prize | $500

(Do not forget to read the fine print)

How to participate:

1. Post a photo of your hot chocolate on Instagram. ONLY POSTS. IG stories do not count.

2. Use the fest Hashtag #HCFphotocontest in your photo caption.

If your account is private, you cannot participate because the organizers will not be able to see your hashtag.

For more details, visit their website www.hotchocolatefest.com. You will find there a virtual map with all the locations, the participants, the hours, and all the flavours. The rules and regulations for the contest. And last but not least, there will be updates available daily on their Instagram account @hotchocolatefest

3 THRIVVE SUGGESTIONS

  • Do not plan too much. One month is enough to visit different areas and check out nearby participating stores.

  • Try to combine different activities. If you are on a date, going to grab coffee won’t take so much time, and it is better to have another destination.

  • If you are not a fan of sweet things, ask if they can prepare your drink half-sweet.

Do not forget to check their website to see more details and PLEASE… Let us know which beverage is your favorite on IG @thrivve.van

Are you an old-school coffee drinker or are you willing to try crazy combos?
